The Be My Family Project has closed. This decision was reached after a period of review by the NSW Committee on Adoption and Permanent Care, in consultation with DOCS. The role of the project, as a conduit of information about children with special needs needing a foster or adoptive family placement, will now be fulfilled by regional child and family units within DOCS.
- Caseworkers seeking placements for children can direct referrals via their manager to the relevant DoCS Regional Child and Family Unit.
- Caregivers (already authorised) should make contact with their authorising agency about their availability to provide placements.
- For people interested in becoming authorised to foster a child, more information about foster care training and assessment services can be located on the Association of Childrens Welfare Agencies and Department
of Community Services websites.
