Accidental Counsellor – 2 day Workshop

Explore frameworks and practice skills that workers in non-counselling roles can use to effectively respond to people who are experiencing emotional distress. Participants will learn core skills in active listening, effective questioning, assessment and referral, crisis intervention and self-care. Self-awareness and professional boundaries will also be discussed and explored.

Applying a Trauma Informed Approach

This one day workshop will provide an overview of the impacts of trauma on a variety of aspects of development and functioning. Strategies that support a trauma informed approach at an individual and systemic level will be explored to ensure that workers are able to be operating in a manner that support post traumatic growth.

Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at Risk

Keeping children and young people safe is an important responsibility for all community sector organisations. This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to update your legislative knowledge and to explore some of the complex issues surrounding the recognition of, and response to abuse, neglect and risk of harm. Relevant case studies are used throughout this workshop to assist you to understand your reporting responsibilities and the notification process.
