Best Practice Unit

ACWA’s Best Practice Unit (BPU) operated from 2015 to 2018. It was established to provide the sector with information, resources and training in key areas of practice, with a particular focus on equipping the sector to meet changing work requirements brought about as a result of child protection reforms, and to support best practice in the field.

During the course of its operation, the BPU hosted several best practice and research forums, developed resources, conducted a comprehensive needs analysis to identify and evaluate the needs of the NGO out-of-home care sector in the move towards the new Permanency Support Program.

The work of the BPU was supported by a Statewide Reference Group, made up of practitioners from the sector. This group provided advice on practice, practice gaps, models as well as preferred approaches to training and practice development.
