As part of our Let Them Learn project ACWA is teaming up with UTS and the Why Not You Project to provide a University Experience Day on Thursday, July 26, for students from Years 9-12 who are in care.
Highlights of the day will include a Code and Design 3D Modelling Workshop for the teens and an Education Champions Workshop designed specifically for carers and caseworkers to hear more about how they can support the educational needs of the young people in their care. This is a valuable opportunity to learn about the successful Education Champions program running in the UK which engages carers with an educational background and/or advocacy skills to provide peer support to other carers to help them support their young people’s educational journey.
Following lunch there will be a meeting of ACWA’s Education Action Committee, which all carers and caseworkers are warmly invited to attend.
Students, carers and caseworkers are asked to meet in the foyer of UTS Tower Building 1 (15 Broadway, Ultimo) at 9:30am. There will be a tour of the UTS School of Design, before the young people and carers/caseworkers break off for their workshops at 11:30am. The day closes at 3pm.

We look forward to seeing you there!
