Kinship Care Forum with Dr Lucy Peake
This Foster and Kinship Care Week (8–15 September), ACWA is pleased to invite you to a ‘shared learning’ exchange with Dr Lucy Peake, CEO of Grandparents Plus, a unique national charity in the UK that focuses on supporting all kinship carers, including kinship carers with the range of legal orders as well as informal arrangements.
Monday 9th September
10am – 3pm
In NSW, 51% of children living out of home are living with relatives or kin. In addition, many other children are living in informal care arrangements with kin. This forum will explore models of peer support for relative/kin carers including Lucy’s ‘Kinship Connected’ program, as well as strategies for raising awareness and influencing policy around acknowledging and supporting the specific needs of grandparent, relative and kin carers.
