Services working with children and families in the Dubbo region have come together to undertake world class domestic violence training with ACWA’s Family Safety Collaboration
In early March up to eighty local staff are completing the 4-day training in the Safe and Together model; focussed on child centred practice, partnering with and supporting the non-offending parent, and intervening with people using violence and coercive control to reduce risk and harm to children.
The training is part of ACWA’s Family Safety Collaboration, which is a place-based initiative in Dubbo and Wellington NSW. The Collaboration was established as an integrated DFV and child protection planning process; to improve the way services, agencies and communities work together to support families. After the initial planning phase, local NGOs, ACCOs and Government agencies are working together to enable improved practice and coordination to meet families needs.
The Family Safety Collaboration is funded by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice, under the National Partnership Agreement.
