Strategy to Action Day: Harnessing the Power of AI in Social Services

On Thursday 4 December, ACWA hosted its Strategy to Action Day focused on the practical opportunities and challenges of using artificial intelligence across child and family services. The event brought together sector leaders, practitioners and partners to explore how AI can support quality practice, workforce sustainability and better outcomes for children, young people and families.

ACWA thanks Yvonne Weldon AM from the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council for her thoughtful Welcome to Country, which grounded the day in respect, reflection and connection.

We also thank our facilitator, Simon Lesch from Archetype, and presenters Ghassan Noujaim from Settlement Services International, Llewellyn Spink from the Human Technology Institute, and Matt Hooey from Barnardos for generously sharing their expertise, insights and practical examples. Discussions throughout the day highlighted both the potential benefits of AI and the critical importance of strong governance, ethics and human centred design as adoption increases across the sector.
